Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce — Weekly luncheon meetings are held Mondays at noon in the second-floor meeting room of the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St.
This Monday’s featured speaker will be Eric Lewis, CEO of Olympic Medical Center, on delivering health care in a rural environment.
Luncheon tickets are $13 and can be purchased from the meeting room cashier.
Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce — Weekly luncheon meetings are held Mondays at noon at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St.
This Monday’s featured speaker will be Erica Delma, executive director of Jefferson County Family YMCA, on the Port Townsend-based Y’s plans for this year and beyond. Lunch will be catered by Jordini’s.
Forks Chamber of Commerce — Luncheon meetings are Wednesdays at noon at JT’s Sweet Stuffs, 80 N. Forks Ave.
This Wednesday’s program includes a business meeting for chamber members.
Lunch costs $8; a bowl of soup, $4.75; and a cup of soup, $4. The entree will be enchiladas or a selection of soups.
Port Angeles Business Association — Breakfast meetings are Tuesdays at 7:30 a.m. at Joshua’s Restaurant, 113 -DelGuzzi Drive.
This Tuesday’s meeting will feature discussion and possible votes by PABA members on position papers about Wild Olympics and the Lincoln Park tree removal/replant plans.
There also will be a report on a visit to Victoria and meeting with the city’s mayor and the head of the Downtown Victoria Business Association.
There is a $2.16 minimum charge by Joshua’s for those who do not order breakfast.

PA employee retires from 30-year career
PORT ANGELES — Vern Sohlberg, after 30 years of service to Peninsula Housing Authority, is retiring.
Sohlberg worked in maintenance and asset management for the housing authority.
“Please join us in sending best wishes to Vern and his wife, Penny,” Peninsula Housing Authority said in a statement.

Armstrong job fair
PORT ANGELES — Armstrong Marine is partnering on a job fair with the Port Angeles WorkSource office.
The job fair will be held at WorkSource’s downtown office, 228 W. First St., Suite A, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Armstrong Marine is seeking experienced aluminum welders, aluminum fabricators, mechanical engineers or riggers, a marine plumber, a propulsion or systems worker, a computer numerical control (CNC) operator and finish (interior) workers.
Attendees should have applications, cover letters and resumes completed and ready to turn in at the fair.
Armstrong Marine also plans to hold interviews.

Roofing event
PORT ANGELES — Hartnagel Building Supply, 3111 E. U.S. Highway 101, is hosting a free Roofing Day Open House this coming Saturday.
The event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will include product vendors and local roofing professionals from Diamond Roofing, Earth Tech Construction & Roofing, Emerald Roofing and SNS Roofing.
They will answer questions about residential and commercial roofing, skylights, composite and metal roofing, torch down and flat roofs.
A selection of roofing materials will be on display in Hartnagel’s roofing showroom.

New art store
SEQUIM — Colors of Sequim, a new art materials and supply store, has opened at 139 W. Washington St.
The 2,000-square-foot downtown stores carries products from Daniel Smith, M. Graham and Golden Acrylics as well as high-quality but moderately priced items for a student or beginning artist.
Items include paints, pastels, colored pencils, markers and calligraphy pens, plus origami and polymer clay.
The store also carries books and DVDs to instruct artists of all skill levels.
There is a children’s area where the youngest artists can create while the grown-ups shop.
A classroom to host art classes, workshops and demonstrations is an integral part of the store.
Co-owners Eileen Cummings and Bridget Baker said they welcome suggestions about what items should be stocked as well as what classes should be offered.
Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Financial lecture
PORT ANGELES — Taking control of one’s finances and transforming one’s relationship with money will be the topic of a lecture by Rose Hughes at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Hughes, a practitioner of the Financial Integrity program, will provide an overview of this nine-step process for overcoming debt and learning to budget effectively to achieve personal goals.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
An additional three-session workshop series, also led by Hughes, will explore the Financial Integrity system in greater depth.
The workshops will be held on three consecutive Saturdays — March 16, 23 and 30 — from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the library.
These workshops are free, but space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Participants must be able to attend all three sessions be 18 or older. Couples are encouraged to register and attend together.
The registration deadline for the workshops is Friday.

New port website
PORT ANGELES — The Port of Port Angeles has redesigned its website, www.portofpa.com.
The site focuses on the categories of “Air, Land and Sea,” and a “How Do I?” section provides answers to frequently asked questions from the public.
Additionally, the new website has interactive modules such as “Notify Me,” “Report a Concern” and “Community Voice.”
The website was redesigned by CivicPlus of Manhattan, Kan., which specializes in community engagement and government websites.
The website was unveiled to the three port commissioners at a recent meeting.

PORT ANGELES — Free, confidential business counseling and mentoring services are available from three certified SCORE counselors based with the Clallam County Economic Development Council.
SCORE is a 50-year-old national nonprofit organization that partners with the Small Business Administration to aid small businesses in getting off the ground, growing and achieving their goals through education and mentorship.
The three Clallam SCORE counselors — Mark Hannah, Mike McCarty and Charles Lamb — have decades of broad, bottom-line business experience.
They were individually honored recently with the Clallam EDC’s Olympic Leader award for 2012.
The award recognizes a business or business leader who has had a significant impact on the economic growth and stability of Clallam County.

College aid bill
OLYMPIA — Legislation that would open college financial aid to young immigrants who have no legal status in the country has cleared its first hurdle.
The measure, dubbed the Washington Dream Act, was approved by the House Appropriations committee Friday, paving the way for a floor vote.
The bill makes young immigrants who have qualified for the Obama Administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program eligible for the State Needs Grant.
The federal program provides young immigrants who arrived in the United States as children a legal way to live in the country on renewable two-year stays, if they meet certain age and noncriminal history criteria.
Democrats and Republicans are supporting the measure in the House.
