FORKS — Contractors will begin construction of one-lane bypass roads at two sites on U.S. Highway 101 south of Forks on Monday.
The bypasses will allow contractors to replace culverts under the highway to improve fish passage.
Drivers will see single-lane, alternating traffic at milepost 163, between Ruby Beach and Kalaloch Beach, and at milepost 189, near Mansfield Road, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, according to a press release from the state Department of Transportation.
Once the bypass roads are completed, traffic will be diverted onto them and drivers will see alternating single-lane traffic around the clock.
The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph at both work sites, WSDOT said.
