CAPE GEORGE — Jefferson County Fire District No. 6 selected its newest commissioner Tuesday night, a local man with an extensive background in emergency medical and fire supression services.
Mark J. Bowes was selected by fire commissioners from among four applicants, three of whom were interviewed by commissioners Tuesday.
Bowes is currently the safety program coordinator and safety officer for Jefferson County, a full-time position he has occupied for the last two years.
He was previously community training center coordinator for Olympic Memorial Hospital from 1999 to 2000.
Bowes replaces Commissioner Grey Pohl, who resigned her position in January citing numerous conflicts with her fellow comissioners and firefighters.
