The 1929 disappearance of a Forks-area couple has been solved, Olympic National Park rangers said Monday.
Bad weather let up long enough to allow two rangers to confirm that a car found Saturday more than 170 feet below the surface of Lake Crescent is Russell and Blanch Warrens’ 1927 Chevrolet.
The couple are believed to have perished in the crash.
“We’re very pleased to have concluded this search,” ranger Dan Pontbriand, one of the divers, said Monday afternoon.
Further dives to the car are planned today, Pontbriand said.
