Clallam County commissioners have upheld a hearings examiner’s decision allowing Kings Way Foursquare Church to lease its property near Sequim.
Neighbors had appealed Examiner Ted Hunter’s May decision to commissioners, contending that the leasing of a 75-person dormitory violates the Rural 2 zoning of the 12.68-acre parcel. The property is located at 1023-A Kitchen-Dick Road.
Under the zoning, commercial businesses such as hotels are not allowed.
Craig Miller, the attorney for the neighbors, argued that leasing a dormitory to other groups amounted to a commercial venture.
But his argument did not persuade commissioners Tuesday to overturn Hunter’s decision.
