Carnegie Library featured in annual glass ornament release

PORT TOWNSEND — The 2016 Port Townsend Main Street Christmas ornament features the Carnegie Library in Port Townsend’s uptown.

The limited edition glass ornament depicts a painting of the 1913 building by Port Townsend artist Jason Gould.

The ornaments are $12 each.

Each year, Port Townsend Main Street Program issues a different glass ornament. Proceeds help fund the nonprofit’s holiday activities.

Gould’s painting of the Carnegie is used with the permission of the painting’s owner, Paulette Lyle, who is a board member of the Port Townsend Library Foundation.

“We are excited that the Port Townsend Main Street Program wanted to showcase the Carnegie Library on the 2016 Port Townsend Christmas ornament,” said Melody Sky Eisler, director of the Port Townsend Library.

“We think Jason Gould’s artwork is a beautiful representation of the Carnegie Library. We appreciate Paulette Lyle’s generosity in allowing this image from her art collection to be featured on the Port Townsend Main Street ornament,” she said.
