PORT ANGELES — A plea agreement is in the works for a Port Angeles man charged with several counts of child rape.
Walter Floyd Mozingo, 52, is expected to plead guilty to amended charges at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Mozingo has accepted a plea offer from the Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, defense attorney John Hayden told Superior Court Judge Erik Rohrer on Friday.
“At this point, he has instructed me to set this matter for change of plea,” Hayden said.
Mozingo remained in the Clallam County jail on $50,000 bail Saturday.
He was charged Dec. 18 with two counts of first-degree rape of a child after two girls were interviewed by Port Angeles police.
The crimes allegedly took place when the children were younger than 12.
Additional charges of first-degree child rape and third-degree child rape were added Feb. 6 after a third girl told Detective Kori Malone that she was raped by Mozingo multiple times over a period of about eight years.
Mozingo was released from jail shortly after his Dec. 15 arrest. He was re-arrested Dec. 23 for violating a protection order by having third-party communication with a woman connected to the alleged victims.
