CHIMACUM — Property owners in Fire District No. 1 will be asked to pay 50 cents more per $1,000 of assessed property value in September.
Commissioners of Jefferson County Fire Protection District No. 1 signed a proposal at a special meeting last week to put a levy increase on the Sept. 17 primary ballot.
Property owners currently pay $1 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for firefighting plus 50 cents per $1,000 for emergency medical service.
If the levy passes, Chimacum will be tied with the Port Ludlow district for the highest fire district levy rate in East Jefferson County.
