CHIMACUM — A chimney fire that threatened to destroy a two-story home was kept from spreading Wednesday by firefighters from four agencies.
Jefferson County Fire District No. 5 and other fire crews successfully doused the fire that spread to an attic in a log cabin-style house at 181 Old Eaglemount Road.
Nobody was injured in the blaze.
Residents Sid and Lisa Jorgensen were home when the fire broke out shortly after 10 a.m.
“We saw fire coming out of the ceiling,” Jorgensen said. “We don’t know how it happened.”
Jorgensen said his wife discovered the fire and called 9-1-1 before the couple fled the home.
