CHIMACUM — The School Board on Wednesday night quietly accepted the resignation of Chimacum High School principal Rex Whipple, who faces an August trial in connection with allegations that he secretly shot home videos of a naked 15-year-old girl.
No comments were made by board members or people in the audience before action was taken to accept Whipple’s resignation.
Chimacum School District Superintendent Mike Blair recently sent a letter to parents, informing them that Whipple’s resignation becomes effective at the end of the school year in June.
Whipple, who is on paid administrative leave, was earning a salary of about $80,000 a year.
The board’s acceptance of Whipple’s resignation means he’ll be paid more than $20,000 for the period between his March arrest and the end of the school year.
The School Board accepted Whipple’s resignation as part of its consent agenda, along with the hiring of two summer school teachers and a custodian, and the retirement of a bus driver.
