CHIMACUM — New principals have been selected for two Chimacum schools.
Rex Whipple, principal of a 700-student middle school in Safford, Ariz., has been recommended by a committee of parents, staff, a student and a school board member to be offered the job of Chimacum High School principal.
David Leinweber, technology coordinator for the Bremerton School District, will be offered the Chimacum Middle School principal post.
If Whipple accepts the position, he will replace Ron Green, who resigned last August.
Whipple is expected to be offered a salary of approximately $71,000.
Vice Principal Tom Gallagher has been serving as interim principal at the high school.
If Leinweber accepts the middle school offer, he will replace Kathy Wales, who resigned at the end of the 1999-2000 school year.
Leinweber is expected to be offered an annual salary of approximately $68,500.
For the last year, teacher Joan Pauly and speech therapist Dorothy Hollenbeck have shared principal duties at the middle school.
