CHIMACUM — More than 700 friends and family members gathered Monday to mourn slain tow-truck operator Frank M. “Skip” Smith on Monday.
Friends looked back upon his generosity.
Family members recalled his love and devotion.
But a remarkable sense of humor is what everyone remembered most at the afternoon funeral service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chimacum.
Smith, the son of a retired Navy captain and former Port Townsend mayor, was gunned down last Tuesday at his Port Hadlock business.
Smith’s former son-in-law, Ryan Neil Sorensen, 30, of Spanish Fork, Utah, has been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of the owner of Smith’s Services, a towing and vehicle recovery firm.
