PORT ANGELES — Skaters are bumming after the city closed the new skate park on Race Street on Tuesday afternoon in response to someone defacing a sign with a vulgarity.
The world-class skate park that opened to the public Sept. 4 will reopen Saturday morning after a three-day hiatus, said Bill Sterling, deputy director of recreation.
A sign posted on the park informing the public of the park’s closure is signed “City Manager.”
“The city of Port Angeles has zero tolerance for acts of vandalism or misbehavior,” the signs says.
Port Angeles City Manager Michael Quinn’s last day is today. He is assuming a similar position in Florida.
Quinn will be succeeded by Mark Madsen, the city’s economic and community development director, who takes over Thursday.
Neither could not be reached for comment late Tuesday evening.
