PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles City Council will hold a special meeting today at 2 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
The council will meet with several representatives of the state Department of Ecology, city spokeswoman Teresa Pierce said.
She said the council would be discussing Ecology’s role in the combined sewer overflow project and harbor planning and collaboration with Harbor-Works Public Development Authority.
The meeting will allow the council members to ask questions of the department in a public meeting, a news release from Pierce said.
The city has been working to acquire Rayonier’s tank for combined sewer overflow.
The state Department of Ecology has said that the city must make “significant changes” to its wastewater collection system by 2015 to ensure that sewage doesn’t enter Port Angeles Harbor during times of heavy rainfall.
