Clallam-2 Fire Rescue firefighters recognized for service

PORT ANGELES — Clallam-2 Fire Rescue has announced its annual award winners.

Tristan Lowman was named 2020 Volunteer Firefighter of the year.

Lowman, a former Explorer Scout with the district, became a volunteer in 2019.

He is a certified firefighter 1 and EMT and is working on certification in wildland firefighting and rope rescue.

Kari Desser was selected as the Volunteer EMT for 2020.

Kari Desser

Desser, who became a volunteer in 2018, was recognized for helping to increase the level of service from the Black Diamond Fire Station.

She is a certified firefighter 1 and EMT and is working toward driver certification.

Tyler Gear was selected as Career Firefighter of the Year for the second year in a row.

Gear was recognized for his positive attitude and contributions to the district’s training program.

The district also named its Top Responders, volunteers who responded to 10 percent or more of the district’s emergency calls in 2020.

The Top Responders are Mya Delano, Jessica Adams, Malachi Delano, Sally Fulton, Elizabeth Hagaman, Assistant Chief Dan Huff, Mike Jensen, Tristan Lowman, Sarah Springob, Lieutenant Troy Tisdale, Rikki Weaver and top responder of the year, Lieutenant Kevin Thompson.

Thompson responded to more than half of the district’s 1,800 emergency calls last year.
