The Clallam County Sheriff’s Department has hired two new deputies, one officer from the staff-strapped Forks Police Department and another from Olympic Ambulance.
James A. Dixon, 49, of Forks, and Andrew C. Wagner, 30, of Sequim, began their field training for the sheriff’s department recently, according to a press release from the department.
Dixon served as a patrol officer in the Forks Police Department for nine years before transferring to the sheriff’s department.
The Forks Police Department is now accepting applications for three openings on it’s eight-person force.
Dixon graduated from Sequim High School in 1978 and attended Peninsula College.
He spent five years as a reserve officer with the Sequim Police Department until 1995, then joined the Forks Police Department in 1998.
Wagner graduated from the county’s officer reserve academy in May.
During the eight previous years he worked as an emergency medial technician with Olympic Ambulance.
He has also been a volunteer fire fighter with Clallam County Fire District No. 3 for 11 years.
