CLALLAM BAY — An inmate at Clallam Bay Correctional Center sustained minor injuries when another inmate attacked him Thursday morning.
The assault occurred while inmates were leaving the dining hall and returning to the prison’s A Unit, said Superintendent Sandra Carter.
The victim had wounds on the back of his head and on his back.
The man was treated at the prison infirmary and did not require transport to a hospital, Carter said.
“It appeared to be a complete surprise to the victim,” she said.
The men are affiliated with rival Hispanic gangs, Carter said.
