Clallam County commissioners will conduct five public hearings Tuesday, beginning with a hearing on a proposed ordinance limiting vacation rentals and bed-and-breakfast inns to 10,000 square feet and five guest rooms.
The hearings will commence at 10:30 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Under the proposal, a vacation rental or B&B larger than 4,000 square feet would be required to obtain a conditional use permit.
The second hearing will be on a proposed $901,200 Opportunity Fund grant to the Peninsula Housing Authority to fund the Mount Angeles View Phase 1 redevelopment project.
Commissioners approved the infrastructure grant after an April 11 hearing. They decided to hold a second hearing because the original agenda item and published notice of hearing erroneously said the grant would fund construction of a new building for the Port Angeles unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula.
The third hearing will be on an ordinance amending general park and fairgrounds rules and regulations. The proposal includes a prohibition against drones in county parks unless the operators obtain permission from the parks director and a special permit.
The other hearings are on proposed amendments to county financial policies and a new public records policy.
Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• A proclamation recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
• A contract amendment with the state of Department of Health for supplemental appropriations and statements of work for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) programs.
• A contract amendment with the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe to increase compensation for two trained sheriff’s deputies to assist in the enforcement of tribal law on tribal lands.
• Notice of bids due May 9 for the McDonald Creek bridge replacement project.
• A proposed bid award to Bruch & Bruch Construction Inc. for reconstruction of Lower Elwha Road.
• A resolution reappointing Norma Turner to the Peninsula Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
• A resolution reappointing Gordon Gibbs to the Board of Equalization.
• A resolution appointing Ann Soule to the Marine Resources Committee.
• A resolution appointing Christina Smith to the Homelessness Task Force.
• Approval of a 2016 budget modification processed April 3, 2017.
• Notice that supplemental appropriations will be adopted April 25 and a call for an April 25 hearing on debatable budget emergencies.
• Approval of a one-time, one-year land division extension.
Commissioners will hold their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday to discuss items set for action in future meetings or items of general interest.
The work session agenda includes:
• An agreement with Western Federal Lands to document the transfer of county funds to Western Federal Lands for construction of a segment of the Spruce Railroad Trail.
• A resolution authorizing an expenditure from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund for the Olympic Discovery Trail along state Highway 112.
• A discussion on 2018 budget revenues.
• A climate science update.
Commissioners will hear a quarterly income report from the state Department of Natural Resources at 1 p.m. Monday.
At 2 p.m. Monday, a DNR representative will provide information about a forest inventory, geographic information systems, yields and deferral classes in Clallam County.
Sequim city
The Sequim City Council will conduct public hearings on propane tank security and amendments to the municipal code’s critical and environmentally sensitive areas protection sections when its meets Monday.
The council will meet at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.
The meeting will begin with a work session on the year-end financial reports for the city and the transportation benefit district, the 2016 annual financial policies report, the regional agenda and the organizational update.
Later, the council will hear reports on human services funding, the Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula.
It will consider action on a facility rental policy, a revision of general penalties in the city code, purchase of three police vehicles, establishing systems for public safety as a sole source supplier and establishing Rodda Paint as a sole source supplier.
Forks City Council
The Forks City Council will discuss hiring a uniformed police chief when it meets Monday.
The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall at 500 E. Division St.
Clallam PUD
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a staff report on the district’s renewable energy compliance with the Energy Independence Act and current and future strategies Monday.
The work session will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.
Conservation district
The Clallam Conservation District board will consider an amendment to a Sequim Prairie-Tri Irrigation efficiencies contract Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Suite H at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.
Other agenda items include a treasurer’s report, attendance at a June training event and cooperator and cost-share agreements.
Growth management steering committee
The Clallam County-City Growth Management Steering Committee will discuss a strategy to review and update countywide planning policies in its first meeting Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room (Room 160) at the Clallam County Courthouse.
Clallam County and the cities of Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks are teaming up to update a 1992 countywide planning policy that will guide the development of comprehensive plans.
The state Growth Management Act of 1990 required the county to adopt countywide planning policies in cooperation with cities.
The steering committee is expected to provide recommendations to county commissioners and each city council by Sept. 30.
Peninsula College
Peninsula College trustees will hear a report from President Luke Robins on Tuesday.
Trustees will meet at 2 p.m. on the Forks campus of Peninsula College, 481 S. Forks Ave.
An executive session may be held.
