PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Charter Review Commission decided not to propose specific changes following testimony at Thursday night’s meeting but instead to review the county’s charter section by section at its April 11 meeting.
Then the commissioners can decide if they need to discuss each section, consider their own ideas and testimony regarding proposed amendments, then see if there’s seven votes to make a change, said Commissioner Dave Cummins.
Conflicting parts of the charter could be pointed out during that process, too, he said.
They have heard from everyone who they asked to testify except Sheriff Joe Hawe, who will testify April 11 as a private citizen instead of an elected official, Cummins said.
The commissioners have heard testimony from citizens and public officials for the past several months suggesting changes to the county’s charter.
