Clallam commissioners pick Scott as county treasurer

Judith Scott, a 21-year veteran of the Clallam County Treasurer’s Office, will succeed her retiring boss on Jan. 1.

Clallam County commissioners Tuesday chose Scott to be treasurer after Ruth Gerdon leaves Dec. 31.

Scott, while admitting she isn’t comfortable campaigning, will run to keep the job in the Nov. 8 election next year.

If she’s successful, she’ll have to seek re-election in 2006.

The treasurer’s staff and other county employees packed the commissioners’ hearing room Tuesday to hear their choice.
