PORT ANGELES — Clallam County commissioners will name the county’s next sheriff on Tuesday during their action meeting, a day before Sheriff Joe Hawe leaves office.
That decision came out of a special meeting at the courthouse called by the commissioners Tuesday morning. The meeting mapped out their plans for making a decision.
Hawe announced in August that he was quitting the position with three years left on his elected term in office to take a job with the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs in Olympia.
The commissioners on Monday conducted public interviews of three finalists, Clallam County Undersheriff Joe Martin, retired Long Beach, Calif., police sergeant Soeren Poulsen and retired Chino, Calif., Police Chief Rich Sill.
