Clallam count getting close to half of ballots mailed; Jefferson going for 60%

Clallam County edged up on late this week toward 50 percent voter turnout in Tuesday’s election.

“We have not finished processing ballots for today, but it looks like we will have close to another 2,983 ballots, which will bring us up to 22,439 [of the 45,666 ballots mailed], or 49.3percent, returned,” Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand said in a written statement Thursday.

Jefferson County had received 12,934 ballots, or 58.5 percent of the 22,114 mailed on Oct. 15.

Ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday or hand-delivered by 8 p.m. that day.

Voters in Clallam County can take completed ballots to the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., or leave them in drop boxes outside the courthouse, at Sequim Vehicle/Vessel Licensing, 101 E. Washington St., or District Court in Forks, 500 E. Division St.

Clallam voters who have not received ballots or who need other information can phone the office at 360-417-2222.

In Jefferson County, voters can return their ballots to the Auditor’s Office in the county courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, or at a drive-up box in the parking lot on the west side of the courthouse.

Jefferson County Auditor Donna Eldridge said she expects a high turnout for the Nov. 4 general election, at least 92 percent.

To contact elections officials in Jefferson, phone the Auditor’s Office at 360-385-9117.
