More counterfeit money is turning up in Port Angeles, but police say those who are passing the fake cash may not even know it.
None has been reported elsewhere on the Peninsula.
One man successfully spent a counterfeit $50 bill at a Port Angeles business on Wednesday. The serial number on that bill matches other $20, $50 and $100 bills that have been passed in Port Angeles and Sequim recently, but the spender may not have recognized the money is fake, Port Angeles Police Sgt. Erick Zappey said.
“We don’t know who are suspects and who are innocent people passing it,” he said.
Anyone who receives counterfeit money is asked to call police at 360-452-4545.
