PORT ANGELES — A Sequim resident accused of stabbing a man outside a Port Angeles bar Saturday morning will be arraigned Friday.
David J. Harris, 30, is charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
Harris, who turned himself in to police Tuesday, allegedly stabbed Ernesto Sanches Andalob once in the back, causing a lung to collapse.
Sanches Andalob, 23, of Port Angeles was in satisfactory condition Wednesday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The incident occurred at about 1:41 a.m. Saturday outside the R Bar, 132 E. Front St., after Harris was told to leave the business, according to authorities.
Police have not concluded why Sanches Andalob was stabbed, said Police Chief Terry Gallagher, who added the investigation is ongoing.
“The preliminary information that we have is that Mr. Harris was asked to leave the bar earlier in the evening,” he said. “He was angry with that.
“He later returned to the bar, and it appears that the assault on our victim was unprovoked.”
Gallagher said he did not know why Harris was told to leave the bar.
Bar co-owner Don Hansen declined to comment.
Harris’ bail was set at $250,000 during his first appearance Wednesday in Clallam County Superior Court.
He remained in the Clallam County jail Wednesday.
