Clallam County Auditor Cathleen McKeown — who survived a late election-campaign revelation last fall that she had misrepresented herself as a certified public accountant for 15 years — has been fined $150 by the state Public Disclosure Commission.
She was fined for failing to file a required financial disclosure form.
McKeown said Friday that she did send in her disclosure form — and said she did not receive two reminders mailed by the agency.
She said she will pay the fine and will appeal the penalty in hopes of obtaining a refund.
She said she had no comment on any issue regarding the CPA misrepresentation and referred questions to her attorney.
The state Board of Accountancy has been investigating McKeown’s false CPA claims since late November but has yet to issue a ruling.
State law says a person falsely claiming to be CPA can be charged with a misdemeanor, with a fine of up to $10,000 and six months in jail if convicted.
