PORT ANGELES — The annual handbook containing the rules, lists of classes, livestock health standards, judging rubrics and entry forms for the Clallam County Fair will only be available online this year.
The fair, which runs Aug. 15-18 at the county fairgrounds, will be featured at https://tinyurl.com/2s4hbhna.
There will be a limited number of printed guides at each building exhibitors can use as reference.
Exhibitors also can print out the 64-page PDF using their computer.
Exhibitors will still need to visit the fairgrounds, get entry forms from building superintendents and fill them out for their ruffled petunias, gooseberry jam and gluten-free snickerdoodles.
Any resident of Clallam County can enter an exhibit at the fair; membership to a club or 4H is not required.
Melanie Greer, Washington State Extension’s Clallam County 4H coordinator and a member of the fair board, said ending the printed exhibitor guide was a cost-based decision.
The Jefferson County Fair exhibitor guide is still available in print as well as on online.
Brian Curry, general manager of the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, said it would continue to be printed for the time being. It is at tinyurl.com/yrx93awd.
Exhibitors with animals are required to pre-register by Aug. 1; all other exhibitors are encouraged to preregister by filling in entry forms found in the exhibitor guide and mailing them to entries@jeffcofairgrounds.org.
Only Jefferson County residents can exhibit at the fair.
