PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Fair officials were hoping sunny weather and a demolition derby Sunday would give attendance figures a last-day boost.
Attendance fell slightly from last year’s based on the first three days, Manager Sandy Bailey said.
How well the 2001 edition will depend upon Sunday’s attendance figure, Bailey said.
A total of 8,429 attended the fair on opening day Thursday, followed by 8,104 on Friday and 9,170 on Saturday, Bailey said.
Sunday was the first day the weather cooperated as the sun finally bathed the fairgrounds.
However, Bailey said the economy might have been more of a factor for the lagging attendance, although it is difficult to say.
