Homeowners at the mouth of the Dungeness River will have the chance to relocate now that Clallam County has received $1.45 million to buy them out.
The money will be used to appraise, buy and remove the houses and septic systems of willing sellers along River’s End Road, County Community Development Director Bob Martin said.
The funding consists of a $1.184 million federal grant and a $266,000 state grant from the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The area consists of 30 flood-prone properties, although only about half have buildings on them.
