County commissioners reduced speed limits along three rural arterial roads Tuesday morning, but not as much as petitioners requested.
Four other speed limit changes were denied and limits along five roads serving rural subdivisions were reduced.
The speed limits along Woodcock, Palo Alto and Kitchen-Dick roads were reduced from 50 mph to 45 mph.
Petitions had requested speed limits of 35 mph along Palo Alto Road and 40 mph along Woodcock and Kitchen-Dick roads.
The new speed limits take effect when county road crews change speed signs.
Current speed limits remain in effect until then.
