PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Long Range Planner Robert Knapp earned the Department of Community Development’s employee of the quarter award for the third quarter, department Director Sheila Roark Miller announced.
As a token for his efforts, Knapp gets three months of designated parking
at the Clallam County Courthouse.
“Noted for his extensive participation in the stormwater monitoring program, Mr. Knapp was given the ‘Place to Park for Making your Mark’ award in our monthly staff meeting Tuesday,” Roark Miller said.
Knapp was selected by a team of non-management department employees called the Secret Parking Lot Award Team, or SPLAT.
“It was an honor to be picked by my co-workers,” Knapp said.
Roark Miller said Knapp was chosen for his positive attitude, willingness to learn and teach others, commitment to his work, patience and professionalism.
After working as an electrician in the community for 15 years, Knapp earned an associate degree from Peninsula College and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Washington University.
Knapp has been working for
Clallam County for three years.
Al-though he gets the parking spot just as the rainy season starts, Knapp admitted Friday that he takes the bus to work most days.
“It’s the thought,” he said.
Clallam County Planning Manager Steve Gray was the first recipient of the “Place to Park for Making your Mark” award.
Roark Miller devised the parking spot award earlier this year.
