Clallam County Planning Commission public hearing today

PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing at 6 p.m. today on a proposal to repeal and replace the landscape requirements chapter in the county code.

The meeting will begin in the commissioners’ meeting room at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The after hours entrance is from Fourth Street behind the Clallam Transit bus stop.

The proposed ordinance to repeal and replace code chapter 33.53 includes a new purpose statement, applicability, general landscape requirements, landscape plans and requirements, parking lot requirements, screening of refuse dumpsters, plant standards and an alternative landscape plan.

After the hearing, the planning commission will hold a continued work session on issues and regulations related to recreational vehicle camping and living on private lots.

Manslaughter trial

SPOKANE — A jury has convicted a former reserve deputy of manslaughter in the shooting death of his wife in Spokane Valley.

The Spokesman-Review reports a jury on Tuesday found Dwayne Thurman guilty of second-degree manslaughter after finding him innocent of first-degree manslaughter in the January 2016 death of 42-year-old Brenda Thurman.
