PORT ANGELES — A Clallam County Sheriff’s Department patrol boat is back on the water after a $50,000 upgrade and almost two years in dry dock.
The 28-foot craft passed its sea trial Tuesday and will begin to patrol the county’s 200 miles of coastline for marine safety and illegal activity, Undersheriff Joe Martin said.
“This is a key vessel to have on the salt water, not only for law enforcement, for potential homeland defense, too,” Martin said.
The boat is equipped with two new Honda four-strike, 225 horsepower engines and updated electronics, steering, and satellite systems.
