PORT ANGELES — Two Clallam County Sheriff’s Office corrections officers have received promotions.
Sgt. Cassandra “Wendy” Peterson was promoted to chief corrections deputy and Corrections Deputy Wes Miner was promoted to corrections sergeant on July 5.
Peterson was hired as an extra help corrections officer at the Clallam County Correctional Facility in 1984, becoming a permanent officer in 1989.
In 2001, Peterson was promoted to the rank of corrections sergeant, and while active in that role she was assigned the task of preparing the jail for a Washington Association of Sheriffs & Police Chiefs accreditation.
For her efforts in the accreditation process, the sheriff’s office received a mock accreditation on June 30.
The final on-site accreditation is slated for the first week of August, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Miner was hired as a corrections officer in 2004, and has been delegated various awards for his work in the jail, according to the release.
Miner’s continued efforts with the sheriff’s office annual report has assisted the corrections department for a “very professional and thorough review for each year,” said the sheriff’s office.
