Clallam County commissioners will discuss proposed speed limit changes along county roads during a work session today.
They will take action on any changes at their 10 a.m. regular session on Tuesday.
The work session starts at 3:30 p.m. today in Meeting Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse, located at 223 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles.
Speed limits are set by county ordinance. The limits are determined within design standards based upon the “85th percentile” — the average speed of 85 percent of the drivers traveling the roads.
If a road isn’t included in the county ordinance, its speed is 35 mph by default.
Residents or county public works staff can petition the county commissioners to have a speed limit changed.
