PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Undersheriff Lorraine Shore has been selected as the Law Enforcement Torch Run 2024 Sheriff of the Year.
She has been a driving force behind the revitalization of the Law Enforcement Torch Run on the North Olympic Peninsula, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release.
Shore was selected by the Council for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Washington and was presented the award Nov. 19 during the state Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs fall training conference in Kennewick.
“In 2024, she led the coordination of the torch run across Clallam and Jefferson counties, reenergizing participation among 12 law enforcement agencies and surpassing fundraising records that hadn’t been reached since 2011,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “By creating a welcoming space for Special Olympic Athletes, including a walking section and finish line celebration, Lorraine ensured that this year’s torch run was inclusive and impactful.”
Shore now serves as county coordinator for the run.
“Her kindness and dedication strengthened the connection between law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes, making her a remarkable leader and an outstanding candidate for Sheriff of the Year,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
