PORT ANGELES — The public will have a chance next year to decide if county commissioners should be elected by district.
The Clallam County Charter Review Commission voted 10-3 Thursday to put the measure on 2003 general election ballot.
Two Charter Review Commission seats were vacant at the time of the vote.
If voters approve the measure, they will begin electing commissioners only within their district beginning in November 2005.
Currently, commissioners must live in the district they represent, but are elected in a countywide vote.
