EDEN VALLEY — A 5-year-old boy set his little sister’s bed on fire Sunday, burning his family’s manufactured home to the ground in this isolated community six miles southwest of Port Angeles.
“It seems my son was playing with matches and lit her bed on fire, and I couldn’t stop it,” said the boy’s father, Bradley Hamilton, who escaped the blaze with his children. His wife, Deborah, was not in the home at the time.
Before firefighters reached the scene at the end of Eden Valley Road, the 24- by 60-foot home on the edge of a forested area was engulfed in flames, reported Deputy Chief Mike Oakes with Clallam County Fire District No. 2.
Eighteen firefighters and medics from county fire districts Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 5 responded to the blaze.
