JOYCE — Construction of a new fire station for the growing east side of Clallam County Fire District 4 is expected to begin in March, district officials said.
A three-acre site has been prepared for construction of the new 2,700-square-foot station south of Highway 112 near Gerber Road. The site is about 200 yards west of Freshwater Bay Road.
“I’ve been at this for a year . . . It’s been a large project,” said George Oldfield, project manager.
A retired Seattle firefighter, Oldfield helped Fire District Chief Dave Chastain obtain the needed permits for the fire station project, which the Clallam County Department of Community Development values at $161,104.
Bids for the project will be called Feb. 12 and opened on Feb. 26, allowing the fire district board to award a contract.
