A dispute among officials from two Clallam County fire protection districts has led to hard feelings over a 7-year-old agreement that allows for mutual aid between the two.
Fire Districts No. 2 and 3 participate in an agreement among themselves, District No. 4 (in the Joyce area) and the Port Angeles Fire Department to offer firefighting and emergency medical services outside their jurisdictions in the event they are needed.
But a November emergency medical services levy failure in District No. 2 meant that the agency had to let expire a contract with Olympic Ambulance Service, which provided guaranteed paramedic and transport services on a round-the-clock basis.
That is of concern to District No. 3 Chief Steve Vogel and his three-member Board of Commissioners.
They notified District No. 2 Chief Jon Bugher that a re-evaluation of the mutual aid agreement might be forthcoming.
