Candidates for District 1 Clallam County commissioner have collected more than $26,000 to bolster their campaigns with about months left before the general election.
Steve Tharinger, D-Dungeness, and Republican challenger Sue Forde of Sequim are seeking election to the post that carries a $56,388 annual salary.
Tharinger, who is seeking his second four-year term as commissioner, listed $10,265 in election contributions as of Friday. A fund-raising event brought in $1,871 to his coffers, according to documents filed with the state Public Disclosure Commission.
Nearly half of Forde’s $16,147 in contributions comes from three sources.
