Clallam County economic development officials have secured $1.055 million for a business “incubator” program after more than two years of work.
Detailed planning for the project is under way and officials hope to open the first of three phases of the incubator with the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center in June 2003.
An incubator program offers growth opportunities to start-up and small businesses by sharing support resources and services within a business complex.
The proposed Peninsula business incubator program’s first phase — expected to cost $2.4 million — would include building a Port Angeles business complex and purchasing an existing site in Forks.
Officials are currently negotiating with the building owner of West End Business and Technology Center, 71 N. Spartan Ave., to purchase the Forks building.
The second phase of the project includes finding a Sequim incubator site.
