PORT ANGELES — A foundation in the name of a Port Angeles pioneer has awarded a $50,000 grant to furnish and equip the first floor of the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center.
Of that amount, $10,000 will be paid this fiscal year and $40,000 will be paid at the start of the year which begins July 1.
Haller Foundation attorney Alan E. Millet informed the district of the award by letter.
“We are very, very pleased and extraordinarily grateful for this generous donation in support of North Olympic Peninsula youth,” Schools Superintendent Gary Cohn said.
“Albert Haller lived by the ideals of education and extending a helping hand to others, particularly the youth of our community. His ideals exemplify the vision of the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center and the five school districts and college that are partners in this operation,” Cohn said.
“We are all very pleased to be a part of honoring his memory this way.”
