PORT ANGELES — Clallam County administrator Dan Engelbertson is expected Monday to give county commissioners options for appointing an interim sheriff, including one that would take politics out of the picture.
The possibility of appointing an interim sheriff who wouldn’t seek election in 2004 became a possibility after Engelbertson received an inquiry from a county resident with law enforcement experience who asked if he could just be considered for the one-year interim position.
Engelbertson declined to identify the potential candidate.
