PORT ANGELES — In the recent effort to bring the historic ferry Kalakala back to Port Angeles, one voice has been missing.
Bill Zynda, who previously amassed more than 100 supporters of bringing the silvery, bullet-shaped ferry here, has remained quiet since the Seattle-based Kalakala Foundation decided in January 2001 that his idea wouldn’t float.
Zynda contends the foundation had unrealistic requirements for the person or group that would eventually restore the Kalakala to its 1935 glory, and those requirements are still in place now as the foundation desperately seeks a new home for the vessel.
