PORT ANGELES — A proposed vehicle-use policy will reduce the number of Clallam County employees who take county cars home.
Those who do so must first gain the approval of county commissioners, County Administrator Dan Engelbertson told the commissioners during their Monday work session.
The commissioners will consider the proposed policy change at their regular session next Tuesday, May 14, in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
The policy has been approved by county department heads and employee unions, Engelbertson said. Since it is a policy change and not an ordinance, it doesn’t require a public hearing.
“I think it’s a good policy,” Engelbertson said. “It allows use for county business with a few exceptions and also establishes who is allowed to use county vehicles.
“I’m not reinventing the wheel here folks.”
