PORT ANGELES — Port commissioners unanimously agreed Monday to renew Executive Director Clyde Boddy’s contract for 2003 with the same terms as before — including a $7,500 monthly salary for nine months.
Board President Glenn Beckman also said a search for a permanent executive director could begin in March with the person in place by July or August.
The contract for Boddy, a Port of Port Angeles retiree, pays him $7,500 a month for nine months with an option for an additional three months.
The arrangement was agreed upon last year to allow Boddy to work full-time while retaining his $47,000 annual state pension as a Port retiree.
Boddy can work only 1,500 hours a year before his retirement benefits stop for the remainder of the year.
If he continues as Port director after September, his pension would pause until January.
Although the Port commissioners, meeting Monday, said they plan to search for a new executive director, no action was taken on re-creating any executive director search committees.
Search committees formed during last year’s aborted executive director search were disbanded earlier this year.
