PORT ANGELES — Rick Porter is confident he has been elected Clallam County District Court 1 judge, beating two-term incumbent John Doherty.
Doherty says he isn’t ready to concede defeat, saying he’ll wait until more votes are counted Friday.
“I don’t know where the votes are coming from, what areas,” Doherty said in an interview.
Porter received 6,581 votes, or 54 percent, compared to 5,620, 46 percent, for Doherty, as the first round of ballot counting ended Tuesday night.
“I’m confident that lead is going to hold,” Porter said.
