A multiparty agreement to pursue a proposed ocean wave energy project off the Cape Flattery coast has been extended by Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners until Oct. 31.
“There’s more and more interest all the time,” General Manager Dennis Bickford said.
U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Seattle, is interested in promoting the project however possible, Bickford said.
Mercer Island-based AquaEnergyGroup Ltd. is part of a group pursuing a $2 million demonstration project to generate electricity from ocean wave motion off the Makah Indian reservation at Waatch Point, just south of Cape Flattery.
