If the Bonneville Power Administration drops its wholesale power rate by 7 percent on April 1, the Clallam County Public Utility District will cut its rates by 3 percent across the board.
PUD commissioners will vote on the reduction — affecting electricity customers in Clallam County outside the Port Angeles city limit — at their March 11 meeting after the utility district’s staff prepares a rate schedule showing the actual dollar figures.
The basic customer fee and demand charge won’t be affected.
“I had someone tell me, ‘Let me decide how to spend my money, not you,”‘ Commissioner Hugh Haffner said at Monday’s meeting of the PUD board.
“Then he said, ‘You said if the rates dropped you would pass that along, and we expect you to follow through.’
“That pretty well sums it up. We have to go on what we said.”
