School officials kept students calm Tuesday as they learned of the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
Students in many classes watched the events unfold on television. Others simply discussed the deadly attack.
“We have televisions set up in the teachers’ lounge and library for teachers and older kids to stop by and get reports if they want,” Crescent School District Superintendent Rich Wilson said.
Most students were aware of the attacks before they came to school, he said.
“This is a terrible tragedy,” Wilson said. “We are tying to provide a normal and stable day for students, letting them talk about the event if they choose to.”
